Antique Victorian Micro Mosaic Bracelet 18ct Gold
An exquisite antique Micro Mosaic bracelet from the mid-Victorian era (Circa 1860) featuring seven marvellously detailed Micro Mosaic’s depicting a series of Roman ruins.
Roman style Micro Mosaic's are made up of unusually small pieces of glass (tesserae), or in later Italian pieces, an enamel-like material, to make small figurative images, which were sought after in the 19th Century during the 'Grand Tour' days when tourists developed a fascination with destinations such as Rome.
The tiny enamel pieces have been skilfully inlaid into a blue resin base to create realistic arches and pillars surrounded by green foliage and blue ocean. They’re bright and vibrant with skilled use of shading and colour.
The Mosaics are framed in ornate 18ct gold frames and held securely by a box clasp and safety chain. It’s in excellent condition and displays remarkable works of art, made by a true master of the craft.
We recommend you insure for £4,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
