This enchanting antique Victorian sapphire star brooch/ pendant is crafted in 18ct yellow gold and depicts an eight-pointed star with deep royal-blue cushion cut sapphires graduating from each tip to a magical chrysoberyl cabochon claw set in the centre. It exhibits a luminous band of light down the centre that glides left to right, resembling an alert and watching cat’s eye.

Celestial-themed jewellery grew in popularity in the 19th century with stars worn as lucky charms, believed to guide the wearer toward their dreams and true destiny. Sapphires often symbolised wisdom and divine protection, while the cat’s eye chrysoberyl embodies foresight and good fortune.

Dating to the late 19th century, this collectable Victorian sapphire star brooch remains in pristine condition and features a mesmerising array of natural gemstones. It is fitted with a sturdy pin and a discreet loop, allowing it to be worn as either a brooch or a pendant, depending on the occasion.
