Vintage Amethyst Diamond Cross Pendant 18ct Gold
This magnificent, large vintage amethyst diamond cross pendant is bezel set with eleven round, natural amethysts along the cross bars, exhibiting a luxurious deep-violet hue that contrasts beautifully against a sunny 18ct yellow gold base and twenty twinkling diamonds around the border.
Amethyst has been associated with faith, spirituality, and divine wisdom throughout history. During the Middle Ages, it was used to symbolise Christ's sacrifice and was worn by clergy and bishops as a sign of their faith and piety. Legend also links Saint Valentine to the stone, as he was said to have worn an amethyst ring carved with Cupid, making it a popular love token and the birthstone for February.
This large 1930s amethyst diamond cross pendant is in excellent condition and featuring faded London hallmarks on the back of the loop. It showcases a stunning collection of natural gemstones across the front, creating a regal, and eye-catching statement piece when worn on the end of a gold chain.
We recommend you insure for £4,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
