Art Deco Suffragette Chain 15ct Gold Amethyst Pearl Peridot
A colourful Suffragette tribute chain from the 1920s consisting of 15ct gold cable links interspersed with amethyst, peridot and pearl beads and four golden cubes along its length.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
It’s a lovely, long chain measuring 32 inches and held securely by a claw clasp at the end. It displays a colourful assortment of gemstones that contrast and complement each other beautifully.
