ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SCOTTISH CAIRNGORM SHIELD BROOCH SILVER 18CT GOLD GILT DATED 1862
An exquisite Antique Scottish brooch from the mid Victorian era depicting a shield and crown with a glorious golden brown Cairngorm claw set in the centre (approx. 15ct) haloed by colourful cabochon Amethysts and Citrines which sit on their own raised pedestals.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
The piece is modelled in Silver and gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold. It’s in excellent condition and complete with a kite hallmark which indicates it was made in 1862.
