ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN GEMSTONE BUTTERFLY BROOCH CIRCA 1905 BOXED
A colourful antique Edwardian butterfly brooch from the early 20th Century decorated with blue sapphires, pink rubies, green emeralds, old mine cut diamonds, and a natural opal in the centre.
Insect jewellery grew in popularity at the turn of the 20th Century due to a renewed love of the natural world following the vast urbanisation of the country and were often decorated with colourful gemstones to enhance their beauty and value.
The brooch is crafted in silver and fitted with 18ct gold legs, head and pin. It’s remained in pristine condition and is accompanied by an antique box with green velvet interior to store it in.
