Antique Art Deco Albert Chain 9ct Gold Dated 1922
This classic antique Albert chain, crafted in Birmingham by Fetter, Forbes & Co in 1922, consists of solid gold curb links, two claw clasps, a T-bar, and a small extension of chain at the end, traditionally used to hold a medallion or fob. Over time, the gold has developed a charming rosy-gold patina, and each component is original and bears a “375/9ct” stamp, confirming its quality.
Albert chains were both a fashionable and practical accessory for a gentleman in the early 20th Century, often adorned with a pocket watch or fob and secured to the buttonhole of a waistcoat for quick access. Today they’re also worn as versatile and stylish necklaces; a custom started by the wives of soldiers during WW1 who wore the chains as a keepsake.
This heavy Art Deco-era Albert chain is exceptionally made and in excellent condition. It’s complete with Birmingham hallmarks and the maker’s mark and can be worn as a traditional Albert or as a chic necklace.
