ANTIQUE VICTORIAN IVY LOCKET NECKLACE STERLING SILVER 18CT GOLD GILT DATED 1879

This exquisite Antique late Victorian locket has been commissioned in Sterling Silver and gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold with a lovely cable chain to display it on. 

The front of the locket has been engraved with ivy leaves which represent an unbreakable bond, such as friendship or marriage, as in the Victorian rhyme 'Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee.' 

The locket also contains two rims and windows within to house photographs of loved ones. It’s complete with Birmingham hallmarks on the reverse which date it to 1879.
