Antique Edwardian Suffragette Lavaliere Necklace 15ct Gold

A sublime antique Art Nouveau lavaliere necklace from the early 1900s decorated with bright seed pearls, a green pear cut peridot dropper (approx. 1.8ct) and a deep cherry-pink cushion cut tourmaline in the centre (approx. 1.8ct). 

Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”  

The elaborate pendant consists of graceful, scrolled metalwork and floral motifs, expertly crafted in 15ct gold with articulated shoulders that branch out to join a beautiful 15ct rope twist chain complete with tube clasp. 

It’s an exemplary piece of Art Nouveau design and ornamented with a mouth-watering collection of natural gems.
