A stunning antique Victorian celestial brooch from the late 19th Century depicting a beautiful crescent moon with a tiny owl perched on a branch within. The crescent is encrusted with an array of glistening rose cut diamonds (approx. 0.75ct total) and the owl features fine, feather engraving and two diamond eyes.

Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.

The open-work gallery is beautifully ornate with a jagged outer edge and pierced under gallery. It’s crafted in silver and 18ct gold, including the owl and pin and would look perfect pinned to a lapel.

We recommend you insure for £3,200. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
