As documented on the accompanying diamond certification card, the natural old mine cut diamond has been weighed at an impressive 1.61 carats and has excellent SI1 clarity – G colour. It’s been expertly hand-cut with a large table and many glistening facets that effortlessly catch the light with every movement.    

During the 18th and 19th Century, old cut diamonds were considered the highest standard with skilfully hand-cut facets that were said to gently dance by candlelight. It may be considered less flashy by modern standards, but their rugged aesthetic and distinctive fire are unlike any machine-cut stones made today and evoke the romance and skilled craftsmanship of a bygone era. 

The old antique diamond has been re-set in a new claw mount that crowns it prominently atop the finger once more. It’s fashioned in platinum, with grooved shoulders and complete with Birmingham hallmarks and the maker’s mark within the band. It would make an outstanding diamond engagement ring with an exceptional old diamond that has sparkled ceaselessly over the centuries.
