A fine antique Victorian Albert chain made up of solid 9ct gold curb links that graduate in size toward the centre. They’ve developed a lovely rosy hue with age and are all stamped “375/ 9ct”.

Albert chains were named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort and were traditionally worn by gentlemen to secure a pocket watch to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today, they are also worn as stylish necklaces; a custom that was started by the wives of soldiers during the first World War who wore the chains as a keepsake in the hope they’d return home safely.

It's a wonderful antique Albert chain and is fitted with a double claw-clasp and a T-bar at the bottom complete with Birmingham hallmarks and a few extra links at the side that could hold a pendant or medallion.

We recommend you insure for £1,995. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
