Antique Edwardian Albert Chain 9ct Rose Gold
Modelled in solid 9ct gold, this classic antique Edwardian Albert chain consists of graduated curb links, leading to its original T-bar at the bottom and claw clasps at each end. Each chunky curb link has developed a desirable rosy-gold patina over time and is stamped “375/ 9ct”, with Birmingham hallmarks above the bar, dating it to 1919.
Albert chains were traditionally a practical accessory, worn by gentlemen to secure a pocket watch to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. They have since evolved into versatile and stylish necklaces; a custom that was started by the wives of soldiers during the First World War who wore the chains as a keepsake in the hope they’d return home safely.
This luxurious Edwardian era Albert chain is perfect for layering with other gold chains or worn alone as a statement piece or watch chain. The style is as popular today as it was in the 19th Century, and this is a particularly fine example, with a pleasing weight and bright rosy bloom.
