Antique Art Deco Albert Chain 9ct Gold Dated 1920
Modelled in solid 9ct gold, this classic antique Art Deco Albert chain is made up of graduated curb links, a T-Bar and two claw clasps. Over time, the gold has developed a charming rosy-gold patina, and each component bears a “375/9ct” stamp, confirming its quality. It’s complete with hallmarks and the maker’s mark (W&S), indicating it was made in Chester in 1920, with other maker’s marks on the bar and clasps.
Albert chains were both a fashionable and practical accessory for a gentleman in the early 20th Century, often adorned with a pocket watch or fob and secured to the buttonhole of a waistcoat for quick access. Today they’re also worn as versatile and stylish necklaces; a custom started by the wives of soldiers during WW1 who wore the chains as a keepsake.
This exquisite 9ct gold Albert chain is a timeless design and has a pleasing weight and silky feel. It can be worn as a traditional Albert or as a chic necklace, perfect for layering with other gold chains.
We recommend you insure for £2,600. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
