Antique Edwardian Diamond Solitaire Ring 0.75ct Diamond
A stunning antique Edwardian diamond solitaire ring from the early 20th Century, crowned with a striking old European cut diamond, with excellent SI1 clarity – H colour. It weighs approx. 0.75ct and is claw set in a pronounced four-prong mount, with a solid band at the back with pinched shoulders.
During the 18th and 19th Century, old cut diamonds were considered the highest standard with skilfully hand-cut facets that were said to gently dance by candlelight. It may be considered less refined and flashy by modern standards, but their rugged aesthetic and distinctive fire are unlike any machine-cut stones made today and evoke the romance and skilled craftsmanship of a bygone era.
This Edwardian solitaire ring is modelled entirely in platinum and bears Birmingham hallmarks and the maker’s mark “H.M.” within the band. It would make a perfect antique engagement ring, with a gorgeous natural diamond on top that sparkles and dances endlessly in the light.
