Antique Victorian Suffragette Diamond Pendant Viscountess Rhondda
This fabulous late Victorian Old Cut Diamond pendant has come into our hands, it really is something special.
Set in fabulous 18ct yellow gold and silver.
Steeped in English history, purchased in London, this pendant belonged to Anne Eliza Fell wife of George Augustus Haig, on the reverse of the pendant it is engraved … ‘Anne Eliza Fell Wife of G A Haig Penithon Born 31.5.1822 Died 9.4.1894’
Anne Eliza Fell was the mother of Sybil Margaret Thomas, Viscountess Rhondda. Sybil was a noted British suffragette, feminist and philanthropist. In the 1890’s she became president of the Welsh Union of Women’s Liberal Associations, which was strongly feminist and pro-female suffrage.
This pendant has been hand painted under crystal, it really is a remarkable pendant. It is adorned with over 2ct of Old Cut Diamonds, and Diamonds set into the loop.
The Diamonds around the pendant are exceptional Old Cushion Cut Diamonds, they are SI 1 H Colour.
