A grand Art Deco Albert chain made up of chunky 9ct rose gold curb links, each stamped with a “375/ 9ct” stamp. It’s fitted with its original clasps and T-bar, complete with Birmingham hallmarks and a newer rose-shaped medallion, hallmarked Chester, 1930.

Albert chains were popularised and named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort in the 19th Century and were traditionally worn by gentlemen to secure a pocket watch to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today, they are also worn as stylish necklaces; a custom that was started by the wives of soldiers during the first world war who wore the chains as a keepsake in the hope they’d return home safely.

It’s a solid, substantial chain weighing over 66 grams and can be worn as a traditional Albert or as a stylish statement necklace.

We recommend you insure for £3,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
