An exquisite antique Scottish brooch made in the mid-Victorian era (Circa 1860). The piece features a large cross suspended in the centre, inlaid with contrasting green jasper and orange carnelian which also chase around the outer border.

Scottish jewellery, also known as Pebble jewellery, was at the height of popularity in the mid-1800s and saw traditional Celtic designs decorated with an abundance of coloured agates and granites. It was a personal favourite of Queen Victoria whose frequent trips to Balmoral Castle saw her return with many beautiful souvenirs that influenced the trend across Britain.

It’s remained in pristine condition and the gallery is fashioned entirely in 18ct gold with beautiful, foliate engraving between the stones and a pin and safety chain on the back to hold it secure.
