Antique Victorian Diamond Snake Bangle Ruby Eyes 2.1ct Diamond

A grand antique snake bangle from the late 19^th Century lined with nineteen sparkling rose cut diamonds graduating down the tail and head. The largest weighs approx. 0.50ct and is crowned between two pink ruby eyes with a total of approx. 2.1ct across the front. 

Serpent jewellery became a popular romantic token during the 19th Century and symbolised a wonderful combination of love, loyalty and friendship, with their coiled shape representing eternity.

The band has a fabulous, coiled rope design and is modelled entirely in a high-carat yellow gold with hallmarks on the outside indicating it was made in Egypt. It's a remarkable antique find with a good weight and a dazzling collection of diamonds.
